Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust for heat preference
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar for a hint of sweetness
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper optional, for extra depth

Instructions
 

Combine the spices

  1. In a small mixing bowl, add all the ingredients: smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried thyme, cayenne pepper, black pepper, salt, brown sugar, and white pepper (if using).

Mix well

  1. Use a small whisk or spoon to thoroughly blend the spices until evenly combined.

Store properly

  1. Transfer your blackening spice recipe to an airtight container or spice jar. Store it in a cool, dry place for up to six months.

Use as needed

  1. Generously coat your proteins or vegetables with the seasoning before cooking. For best results, brush the surface with a bit of oil before applying the blend.
