Irresistible Simple BBQ Ham Sandwich

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet or grill pan
  • Spatula
  • Butter knife

Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices of deli ham hickory-smoked for extra flavor
  • 2 brioche buns or any soft sandwich buns of choice
  • 2 tbsp barbecue sauce your favorite kind; tangy or sweet works best
  • 2 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter for toasting the buns
  • Optional toppings: Pickles crispy fried onions, or coleslaw

Instructions
 

Toast the Buns

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Spread butter on the inside of each bun half. Place them butter-side down on the skillet and toast until golden and crisp. Set aside.

Warm the Ham

  1. In the same skillet, add the slices of ham and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until lightly browned and heated through.

Add the BBQ Sauce

  1. Drizzle barbecue sauce over the ham in the skillet and let it sizzle for a few seconds. Flip the ham to coat both sides.

Melt the Cheese

  1. Layer the slices of cheese over the ham in the skillet. Cover with a lid for 1 minute to melt the cheese.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. Place the BBQ ham and cheese onto the bottom half of the toasted bun. Add optional toppings like pickles or fried onions for extra crunch and flavor. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve

  1. Serve immediately with chips, coleslaw, or a side salad for a complete meal.
