Instructions
Melt the butter
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until foamy.
Sauté the garlic
Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
Make the roux
Stir in the flour and cook for another minute, whisking continuously to form a smooth paste.
Add the liquids
Slowly pour in the heavy cream and milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
Incorporate the Parmesan
Reduce the heat to low and stir in the grated Parmesan, allowing it to melt into the sauce.
Season the sauce
Add Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens (about 3-4 minutes).
Finish and serve
Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
