Equipment

  • Baking sheet or oven-safe tray
  • Sharp knife and cutting board
  • Small saucepan (if warming the honey)
  • Oven or toaster oven
  • Optional grill pan if you want a toasted, smoky finish

Ingredients

  • 1 French baguette sliced into ½-inch rounds
  • 6 oz Brie cheese rind removed if preferred, cut into thin slices
  • 6 –8 fresh figs sliced (or use fig preserves if out of season)
  • 2 tbsp honey plus more for drizzling
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh thyme leaves for garnish
  • Pinch of sea salt optional, enhances flavor contrast

Instructions

Preheat your oven

  1. to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the baguette slices

  1. by brushing each one lightly with olive oil. Place them on a baking sheet.

Toast the bread

  1. for about 6–8 minutes or until lightly golden and crisp on the edges.

Top each slice

  1. with a slice of Brie cheese while the bread is still warm. It’ll start to melt slightly—that’s the magic.

Add fresh fig slices

  1. or a dollop of fig preserves on top of the Brie.

Drizzle with honey

  1. and sprinkle with thyme leaves. Add a tiny pinch of sea salt if desired to balance the sweetness.

Serve warm or at room temperature

  1. Optional: add another light drizzle of honey right before serving for an extra glossy finish.
