Equipment
Baking sheet or oven-safe tray
Sharp knife and cutting board
Small saucepan
(if warming the honey)
Oven or toaster oven
Optional
grill pan if you want a toasted, smoky finish
Ingredients
1
French baguette
sliced into ½-inch rounds
6
oz
Brie cheese
rind removed if preferred, cut into thin slices
6
–8 fresh figs
sliced (or use fig preserves if out of season)
2
tbsp
honey
plus more for drizzling
1
tbsp
olive oil
Fresh thyme leaves
for garnish
Pinch
of sea salt
optional, enhances flavor contrast
Instructions
Preheat your oven
to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the baguette slices
by brushing each one lightly with olive oil. Place them on a baking sheet.
Toast the bread
for about 6–8 minutes or until lightly golden and crisp on the edges.
Top each slice
with a slice of Brie cheese while the bread is still warm. It’ll start to melt slightly—that’s the magic.
Add fresh fig slices
or a dollop of fig preserves on top of the Brie.
Drizzle with honey
and sprinkle with thyme leaves. Add a tiny pinch of sea salt if desired to balance the sweetness.
Serve warm or at room temperature
Optional: add another light drizzle of honey right before serving for an extra glossy finish.
