Equipment

  • Whisk
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Grill or grill pan
  • Basting brush
  • Tongs

Ingredients

For the Marinade

  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup pineapple juice
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • ½ tsp black pepper

For the Kebabs

  • 1 ½ lbs beef sirloin or ribeye cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 red bell pepper cut into chunks
  • 1 green bell pepper cut into chunks
  • 1 red onion cut into wedges
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
  • Chopped green onions for garnish
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

Marinate the Beef

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, pineapple juice, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Add the beef cubes, tossing them well to coat. Cover and let marinate in the fridge for at least 2 hours (or overnight for extra flavor).

Soak the Skewers

  1. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning on the grill.

Assemble the Kebabs

  1. Thread the marinated beef onto skewers, alternating with bell peppers, onions, and pineapple chunks for a colorful, balanced skewer.

Grill to Perfection

  1. Preheat your grill (or grill pan) to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates and grill the skewers for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until the beef is slightly charred and cooked to your preferred doneness. Brush with extra marinade during grilling for extra flavor.
