Ingredients
1prepared pie cruststore-bought or homemade—your call
1tablespoonolive oil
1bunch fresh asparagustrimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
4large eggs
1cupwhole milkor half-and-half for a richer texture
1/2cupsour cream
1cupcrumbled feta cheese
1/2cupshredded mozzarella cheeseoptional for added meltiness
1/2teaspoongarlic powder
1/4teaspoonground nutmeg
Salt and black pepper to taste
Fresh chives or parsleyoptional garnish
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out your pie crust and press it into your dish. If using a homemade crust, pre-bake it for 5–7 minutes to prevent sogginess.
Sauté the asparagus
in olive oil over medium heat for about 4–5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. This helps bring out its flavor before baking.
In a mixing bowl
whisk together the eggs, milk, sour cream, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. This will give your quiche that fluffy, custardy texture that sets it apart from dense versions.
Layer the asparagus
and crumbled feta in the crust. If using mozzarella, sprinkle that in too for a gooey, cheesy touch.
Pour the egg mixture
over the top, making sure everything’s evenly distributed.
Bake
for 35 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden. Let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing—it’ll hold together better and the flavors will mellow.
