I am home. HOME. Back in Delaware where I was born and raised and the state I left 23 years ago. Talk about a full circle!
It has only been a few weeks and I am still pinching myself to make sure I am not dreaming! The kitchen is fully unpacked (of course) and I am starting to get the cooking creative juices back after several weeks of mad packing, driving, lifting, moaning, unpacking, and way more junkie food than I care to ever eat again.
There are few pics on Instagram with the highlights definitely including a riverfront lunch at Harry’s Seafood, wild cherry ice and vanilla custard at Rita’s, and amazing tomatoes and peppers from my cousin’s garden. Returning back to my old stomping grounds in a more mature fashion, I was delighted to visit Kid Shelleen’s and take advantage of their Taco Thursday – 1/2 price burger Tuesday warrants many future visits too! And, I am still wiping the drool from visits to Vincente’s for Danny’s caesar salad tossing (literally) and a new find in Hockessin, Mexican Table (the sauces and mole are A M A Z I N G)!
I am looking forward to getting into the rhythm of four seasons! Although the current heat wave feels a bit like South Florida, pumpkins and Fall are right around the corner!
Eating experiences to accomplish in the next few weeks: Jersey tomatoes, peaches, and corn; steamed blue claw crabs; Attilio’s Italian Restaurant; Grotto Pizza at the beach; and the Mushroom Festival is coming in Kennett Square!
Home truly IS where the hungry is. I am so happy to be home. Stay tuned for some Mid-Atlantic Awesome!
