Romantic Movie and Recipe Pairings – Happy Valentine’s Day!

Romantic Movies and Recipe Pairings for Valentines Day from Hungry Goddess

I have a confession to make.  I am a Valentine’s Day Grinch.  From Hallmark to the ridiculous 4 foot Vermont Teddy Bears to the incessant commercials, it all makes me feel grumpy that so much artificial marketing goes into one day; not to mention the pressure and mountain of expectations that are stacked up for everyone involved.  What I do love is making food for someone I love.  Food IS LOVE in my world.

Instead of a long roundup for Valentine’s Day, I thought a romantic movie paired with a recipe roundup would be fun.  I asked a few favorite bloggers for their favorite romantic movie and a recipe to match.  Ahhhhhhh food and romance.  Now there you go.

Share your favorite movies and a recipe in the comments below or on The Hungry Goddess Facebook!

Here are a few of my own picks:

Movie: Under the Tuscan Sun
Recipe:  Cioppino and another favorite recipe is Mussels Marinara

Movie: Bridget Jones – The Edge of Reason
Recipes: Thai Chicken Soup Tom Kha Gai or Mushroom Soup with Cognac (if you have seen the movie, you will know why I picked this! LOL)

Movie: When Harry Met Sally
Recipe: Potato Parsnip Pancakes with Dill Pollen Ceme Fraiche and Smoked Salmon

And from the delightful bloggers:

Alejandra Ramos from Always Order Dessert
Movie: Five Senses
Recipe:  ORECCHIETTE ALLA NORCINA (PASTA IN A SAUSAGE, HERB, AND MUSHROOM CREAM SAUCE)
“a luscious cozy dish inspired by the sexy Italian male lead in the movie”.

Karen Kerr from Karen’s Kitchen Stories
Movie: An Affair to Remember
Recipe: Boeuf Bourguignon | Beef Burgundy

Carrie Vibert from Poet in the Pantry
Movie: Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Recipe: Stuffed French Toast with Walnuts

Angela from Seasonal and Savory
Movie: UP!
Recipe: Halibut with Pinot Grigio Pan Sauce and Butter-Toasted Almonds
“My favorite romantic movie is “Up.” Really! It’s a great romance and one of the only animated movies that has made me cry.”
