#HGEATS Edibles- Our EGGS-citing Adventure

This past Wednesday, we took an EGGS-Cellent Adventure and chatted about our love for EGGS!

Great tweets and great recipes were provided by the EGGS-traordinary #HGEATS attendees … Seriously, I would brave a Hen House for all of you!

See you next Wednesday at #HGEATS Luck of the Irish!

QUESTION 1 – Most Exotic Place that you have eaten an EGG?

I once worked as a singer on a cruise ship in Tahiti. I had eggs for breakfast in captains mess hall just about every morning. @Bakeuplilsuzy

At the Dubai Marina overlooking the megayachts, smoking hookah and sipping champagne. @Shocolaategirl

Love this! At a food shack on a quiet beach in Tolo, Greece-with freshly-caught local fish, too! @kjpavadv

QUESTION 2 – Weirdest Egg Dish EVER?

For me its normal for everyone else maybe it’s weird but poached egg w steak and black beans and rice. Lots of lime and avocado. @Shocolaategirl

Century Egg Sliced Open

For me, it’s Century Egg, egg preserved in clay, ash, salt, lime & rice hulls. sounds/looks gross but tasty! @KitchenFrolic

This is pretty weird! Weirdest egg dish? foamy eggs at only restaurant on Mont St. Michel. I cringe at the memory. @CaraPaige

QUESTION 3 – RAW EGGS – Must Have Them or Salmonella Nightmare?

Can’t have French or Italian buttercream without fresh eggs. @Stateofcake

Um thanks but not thanks. I work on a restaurant and I fear the dangers of giving customers uncooked/salmonella-ridden food. @Boston_Bakes

I’ve never done it, but they add raw eggs to shakes. Apparently it doesn’t add any taste to the shake, just nutrients, and may be some salmonella LoL! @CertifiedSteak

QUESTION 4 – Who has gathered their own eggs? And I mean Hen Butt included! :)

I have, even though I grew up in the ‘burbs. My best friend in middle school had a whole bunch of chickens. @FoodsOfNewYork

Dad always does it back home! @Nella22

I am a city girl – never grabbed an egg from anything except a carton, lol. @Themartinidiva

Haha! Grandma had chickens- they terrified me- @StateofCake

Only at easter! Haha. But no, have never gathered eggs- yet. @WildHibiscusCo

QUESTION 5 – EGGIEST Recipes?? How Many Ways Can We Cook Them? We have links posted below!

Boiled eggs in my home made chicken soup. Chicken, Yucca, Corn, Carrots, cilantro, lime, EGG. =AMAZING! And the perfect club sandwich has a fried egg in the center. They do this at @chesterfieldPB with handmade sweetpotato fries. @Shocolaategirl

What about Tilapia Po’boys? Have to have eggs to get the coating right! @SeaBestSeafood

Prosciutto, Leek, and Rainbow Chard Quiche @BakeUpLilSuzy

We Can Eat Eggs in Everything. But This Meringue Buttercream literally takes the cake. @PrimlaniKitchen

Quail Eggs

QUESTION 6 – Not just CHICKENS … what other types of eggs have you had?

Quail eggs- and I’ve been trying to find duck eggs in my area. @Stateofcake

That is one BIG egg! Quail eggs, ostrich, duck, OH! And of course caviar!  The ostrich egg complete filled my pan – it fed 8 people! @Themartinidiva

Just had quail eggs cracked on a breakfast pizza last week. Different, but definitely delicious. @FoodsOfNewYork
