Classic Champagne Cocktail

Sometimes we like to dress up a bottle of bubbly!  This classic cocktail recipe for a Champagne Cocktail was actually first referenced in “The Bar-Tenders Guide” written by Jerry Thomas in 1862.

Serve the Classic Champagne Cocktail with hors d’oeuvres at your New Year party and save the really good stuff for the midnight toast!


  • Chilled dry champagne
  • 1 oz cognac
  • 1 sugar cube
  • 3 or 4 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Lemon twist (optional)


  1. Drop the sugar cube in the bottom of a champagne flute
  2. Soak it with the bitters
  3. Add the cognac
  4. Slowly fill with the champagne
  5. Garnish with the lemon twist

Serve and Enjoy!
